Vendemmia

There are times when it’s necessary to hide behind a steaming bowl of pasta and a glass of nice wine, like the day you accidentally screen-shared your job search during a meeting at work, or after discovering that your ex is doing just fine. Vendemmia is our preferred place for situations like that. It’s the first restaurant from the team behind Le Messe and G.H. Pasta Co. (two of our favorite pasta spots in town), and it’s a quiet neighborhood getaway where you won’t run into your boss or your ex (who, by the way, is doing just fine). Order something from the wine list and then decide between the classic spaghetti with tomato and hot pepper or the agnolotti stuffed with taleggio. If it turns out that your ex is not doing just fine and wants to get back together, Vendemmia also makes for a great date night.

Raccolto is a West Seattle Italian spot from the same people behind Contadino, and the pasta is almost as good. If you can’t get a seat, try the bar.

Artusi is the bar version of Spinasse, the incredible Italian restaurant next door. For cocktails and small plates on Capitol Hill, it doesn’t get much better.
