The Hot Dog Box

There was a time when specialty hot dog shops littered the streets of Chicago like, well, like litter. We’re not seeing as many these days, which makes us appreciate Hot Dog Box even more. This family-owned hot dog spot started out in a shipping container in Bronzeville’s Boxville Marketplace and is currently operating out of Urban Space food hall in the Loop. While it’s moved around a lot, one thing that has been consistent is their delicious steak dogs. The quarter pound dogs are meaty and juicy, with a great snap that holds up to toppings. The menu has a variety to choose from, with standouts like the Bronzeville Bourbon (piled high with bacon and bbq sauce) and the MAC city, which is their take on a Chicago-style. And if your lust for encased meats can’t be sated, get a side of corn dog nuggets.
