Eagle Rock Italian Bakery & Deli

Eagle Rock Italian is a neighborhood Italian deli with solid sandwiches and pastry cases full of cookies, cakes, and very attractive cannolis. Located on a busy stretch of Colorado Blvd in Eagle Rock, this shop gets busy during the lunch rush with off-duty cops and parents refusing to buy their kids sweets because it’ll spoil their appetite. But once they call your number, order the Italian: a pork trifecta of capicola, salami, and mortadella on a crunchy bread roll that soaks up the vinegar doused on top. It’s a good, well-balanced sandwich that hits the spot if you want a sub that’s heavy on the gabagool. Also, grab a cannoli.

Wax Paper is a tiny sandwich counter in a shipping container by the LA river, and yes - it’s as cool as that sounds.
