Bazaar Meat

There are an obscene amount of steakhouses in Chicago, so unless you’re trying to impress an out-of-towner with bad taste, Bazaar Meat is one you can skip. This Spanish spot in the Loop is an offshoot of “The Bazaar” in Miami, and is expensive and underwhelming. The one thing this place has going for it is an impressive dining room with giant velvet booths, red crystal chandeliers, and a great view of the Chicago River. But the long menu is full of cutesy tapas like foie gras wrapped in cotton candy, and small plates like a deconstructed caprese with “liquid” mozzarella that’s more fun to read on the menu than eat. Steaks are priced by the pound and take at least 45 minutes to cook, so unless you order enough starters to fill the time,  things will drag on until the meat arrives. This all adds up to a long, pricey meal. And considering the amount of places where you can get a good steak in this city, you really don’t need to spend your money here.
